Granite Bay students’ robot will compete in FIRST March 23-25 in Davis

ROCKLIN – After an intense six weeks of building a robot out of a set of standard parts plus any they could manufacture, collect or buy within a prescribed budget, high school students residing in South Placer County are ready for their robot to compete in the Sacramento Regional FIRST competition. The robot will play a basketball-like game with and against other teams' entries.

Interviews:
Stephen Miller, Granite Bay High School Teacher and Robotics Club Advisor, will be available for interviews at the competition on Fri., March 24 and Sat., March 25.
Sandra Scott of Sierra College Center for Applied Competitive Technologies, a sponsor of the Granite Bay-based club, is available for interviews prior to the event.

Friday, March 24 and Saturday, March 25 starting at 9am on both days
Competition:
The FIRST Robotics Competition is multinational and attracts 25,000 young people on 1000 teams to solve an engineering design problem in an intense and competitive way -- www.usfirst.org and http://firstsac.engineering.ucdavis.edu/pages/competition.html.
Purpose:
To learn teamwork, develop design and technical skills and practice sportsmanship.
