Sierra College Center for Applied Competitive Technologies (CACT) supports the Sierra STEM Collaborative and Tech-Explorer National Science Foundation project.

These programs work with schools in Placer and Nevada counties to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Math career paths and educational opportunities.

The goal is to attract students to technical careers and prepare them with academic and hands-on skills needed by local employers.

Businesses and economic development organizations are supporting Sierra College’s effort to bring hands-on technical education into the classroom.

Get involved by donating equipment and scrap materials, participating on advisory committees, offering tours, job shadows and internships for students and teachers, and speaking in classrooms.

Sierra College CACT can help employers in the Sacramento region seeking interns and employees. Talk to college and high school faculty who are training students with the skills local businesses are seeking and can put you in touch with prospective employees.
